The Ball

Exhibition Catalogue

The exhibition “The Ball” at the Design Museum in Holon (curator: Yaara Keydar), dealt with fashion’s ability to create worlds of fantasy, splendour and imagination. “The Ball” was among the most popular exhibitions in the museum’s history, and was visited by hundreds of thousands of visitors.

When we were tasked with designing the catalogue for this already hugely successful exhibition, its popularity was something to be considered. Meaning, we have designed this catalogue to be an object of mainstream interest rather than a snooty gallery-styled booklet.

Not to say it wasn’t chic. As a catalogue of an exhibition that was all about style and fantasy, it had to be - with its screen printed dark black cover, painted edges, and hundreds of photographs of dresses and other fashion items.

Each one of the exhibition’s spaces in the museum got its own chapter in the catalogue, and each of these chapters started with a special “behind the scenes” spread, giving readers a glimpse of “the making of” such a grand exhibition.

Designed at Re-Levant, with the talented Sapir David.
